THE STORY

Gradient Cyber is a Security Intelligence platform that visualizes an organization's cybersecurity health through analysis of live NetFlow and log information — producing weighted evidence that is clear, concise, and actionable.

Its Cybersecurity Health Scorecard™ enhances the traditional NIST Cybersecurity Framework to provide comprehensive, actionable insights and a roadmap for continuous improvement across compliance, governance, and threat management.

THE PROBLEM

Cybersecurity analysts were drowning in data. Threat hunting, anomaly detection, and traffic analysis all lived in separate places — with no unified view, no prioritization, and no clear path from insight to action. The platform had the data; it just wasn't usable.

MY ROLE

I led UX research and design the full platform redesign — running user interviews to uncover real workflows, mapping information architecture, and designing an executive dashboard that filtered the noise and surfaced what actually mattered to security leaders.

"When it comes to cybersecurity, there are a wide range of data sources, so threat hunting, anomaly detection, and traffic analysis can be overwhelming without a streamlined executive dashboard that filters out the noise."

USER TESTING

WHAT WORKED

• Users logged in and accessed the executive dashboard with ease

• Module layout clearly highlighted important sitrep information

• Users navigated to the survey tab and answered questions without guidance

WHAT NEEDED ITERATION

• Users requested a newsfeed ticker on the login page for critical news before entering the platform

• Sitrep previews needed to link through to the full report — the truncated view wasn't enough

Usability Testing

AT A GLANCE

Users wanted an executive dashboard to quickly see cyber health risks and any open sitreps that needed immediate attention — without digging through raw data.

FROM INSIGHT TO ACTION

Users needed to understand their baseline risk through a personalized Cybersecurity Health Scorecard — moving from abstract data to a clear, prioritized action plan.

THREAT MANAGEMENT

Users needed concise, accurate visibility into cybersecurity maturity and improvement — measured against recognized industry frameworks like NIST and CMMC.

WHAT THIS PROVES

I bring clarity to high-stakes, complex domains

I bring clarity to high-stakes, complex domains

I bring clarity to high-stakes, complex domains

Cybersecurity data is dense, technical, and consequential. I led research to understand real analyst workflows, translated complexity into a clear information hierarchy, and designed a system where the right signal reaches the right person — fast. This is the same muscle I bring to any domain where the data is hard and the stakes are high.
